At every home game, a Huskies ticket holder is selected to welcome the team to the field during the Huskies Team intro. The fan plants a Huskies flag at mid-field and that launches the massive fireworks show into the sky which brings the players on to the field. The season ticket holder symbolically represents all fans as they greet the players. John Thiel had the honour when the Huskies hosted the Guelph Gryphons last Firday. On August 27, 2010 against the Western Ontario Mustangs, Monica Thiel had the hounour. The Huskie Football Team recognizes the incredible support of the Huskies Football Fans and uses the Flag Plant as a way to thank a season ticker holder for their passion about the team. The flag plant occurs at center field during the Huskies team introductions. The players enter the field and run towards the flag. The symbolism represents the fans greeting the players.

The fan waves the Huskies Flag while the team enters the field amongst fireworks, music and a full-house of standing, noisy fans.

When the Huskies hosted the UBC Thunderbirds on October 9, they started a new tradition of getting a season ticket holder to plant the Huskies Flag at center field during the Huskies team introductions. Huskies Head Coach Brian Towriss said that this was a symbolic thank you to all fans who have supported the team. “We have the loudest fans in CanadaWest,” Towriss said. “We can’t thank them enough for the boost they give to our team every time we take the field. At the Huskies last home game against UBC, a new tradition was introduced. From now on, a season ticket holder will be randomly drawn and will have the privilege of planting the Huskies flag at centre field when the Huskies are introduced. “We can’t thank the season ticket holders, alumni and fans enough for their support this year.” Huskies Head Coach Brian Towriss said. “The atmosphere that they have created at our games is incredible.
