Jesse Gordon is a DB recruit from St. Joseph’s high school in Saskatoon. Gordon is making a position switch from middle linebacker, which he played for the Guardians; he does have some experience at DB from his time with Team Saskatchewan in 2012. Jesse was asked about training camp, which is just over 2 weeks away. “I can’t wait,” he expressed. “I’m a little nervous.”
Jesse’s experience in spring camp opened his eyes to the level of football played by the Huskies. “The gameplay is a lot faster, and obviously there is a size difference – it’s quite a step up. There’s a bigger age gap as well.” In preparation for CIS football, defensive backs coach Cody Halseth told Gordon what to work on in order to be best prepared for his first season. “Speed and strength, the basic kind of things,” he explained. “I’ll need to get bigger and faster.”
Huskie Outsider asked Gordon if he has set any personal goals for the 2013 season. “Not yet,” he told us. “I haven’t really thought about that yet. I guess I want to do my best, make my mark, and get noticed.” Jesse will be enrolled in the College of Engineering this fall.
