Three downs: Huskies vs T-Birds wrap-up

Mitch Stevens had 117 yards receiving for two TDs against UBC (Matt Smith for Electric Umbrella)

First Down: Who deserves your game ball on offense?
Dallas: Mitch Stevens had an excellent game with 117 yards and two touchdowns. Mitch gets the game ball from me.
Tom: Mitch Stevens has been been an unsung hero for the Huskies all season long. It’s great to finally be able to award him with a well-deserved game ball!
Ryan: Guys, I agree with you that Mitch Stevens deserves a game ball. I am also going to give one to quarterback Drew Burko who saw his first action in four weeks after being injured against Regina earlier this year. Burko was 20 for 29 with four TD passes and 321 yards in the air. He gets the ball away quickly and has a bright future ahead of him.

Second Down: Who deserves your game ball on defense?

Tom: It’s been a good couple of weeks for defensive players who have closed out their regular season careers with the Huskies. Last week, Bryce McCall tied a CIS record for interceptions. This week, Mitch Friesen had 2 picks and David Rybinski had a sack to go along with a tackle for a loss. Game balls for both Mitch and David!
Dallas: I’m going with David Rybinski, who had a huge game in what may be his last game at Griffiths. What a warrior! There will be some big shoes to fill at nose tackle next season.
Ryan: Luke Thiel had 9.5 tackles, but I have to go with Rybinski as well. Rybber had two tackles for a loss and a sack, just as I predicted in our three downs segment (had to get that in!!). In all, he had 3.5 tackles, but was more a force away from the ball forcing Billy Greene to throw the ball early and disrupting the running game.

Third Down: Who deserves your game ball on special teams?

Dallas: Jeff Moore had two nice kick returns on the night, including a kickoff return that he brought back 49 yards. This was a good performance that deserves a game ball.
Tom: Jeff Moore had a great game. Not only does he get the special teams game ball for two great returns, but he had a solid night offensively, with 5 catches for nearly 90 yards.
Ryan: Wow, Jeff Moore had a great game on special teams. He had one kick return for 49 yards, and one punt return for 20. That is why he gets the special teams game ball
