Burko’s comfort level improves with each week’s performance

Through 3 weeks of the Canada West season, first year quarterback, Drew Burko has looked better with each game. And while he will face arguably his toughest test thus far, tonight, against the Regina Rams, Drew is feeling comfortable with the challenge ahead. “At the start of the season I was a little shaky,” Burko remarked,” but now I’m getting settled in much better.” The play of the offensive line has been an immense help to Drew in reaching this comfort level. “They’ve been great,” he said. “They’ve been doing their job and giving me tons of time to throw the ball. It’s made by job easier to not have to worry about protection issues.”

Burko’s favourite target has been wr Kit Hillis. Hillis leads the Canada West conference with 31 receptions for 430 yards. “Kit has had a great start to the season; we have a lot of outstanding receivers, but it’s worked out that Kit has had the most balls thrown his way, and he’s catching them.”

Tonight’s game will be the only regular season contest between the Huskies and Rams. Both teams have played fairly well this season, and the matchup is expected by most to be close. “Every week is a tough week, but playing the Rams makes it extra special. It’s also the homecoming game, so this should be an awesome night.” The games against the Rams take on added excitement for the fans of both teams, and Burko agreed that there is somewhat of a similar feeling amongst the players. “You’re playing Regina, and you’re familiar with lots of the players on their team, so there’s always going to be a rivalry. It’s a big game.”
