Corbin Eskelson is a linebacker who is joining the Huskies, following a five year career with the CJFL champion Saskatoon Hilltiops. Eskelson did not play football in 2011, and this will be his only year of CIS eligibility.
“The Huskie organization is second to none,” Corbin said following today’s walkthrough, in preparation for tomorrow’s non-conference game with Guelph. “It’s a great organization with a great coaching staff. This is a super group of guys to play with – it’s been a pleasure to be here so far.” Corbin hopes to make the most of his one year of eligibility. “I’m going to fly around and hopefully bring a little bit of leadership. I know that I’m new to the program, but hopefully during the course of the year I can show what I can do.”
Linebacker coach, Ed Carleton had this to say about his new recruit. “Corbin has been a pleasant surprise. The more we see him, the more we wish he had come out last year too…maybe we could have been more aggressive on that front. He’s doing some really good things on the field. He seems to be a very talented player, and he’s in the mix with those top five guys who are battling for starting positions. We’re looking forward to seeing how well he plays tomorrow.”
