Excitement was definitely in the air following Thursday morning’s walkthrough – the last time the Huskies would take the field prior to today’s non-conference game vs. Guelph. As they entered the team clubhouse, I asked players for some quick comments regarding today’s game.
Bryce McCall: I’m excited to get the journey going. It’s been a long camp of hitting each other, and it’ll be nice to get out there and hit somebody else for a change. We’ll get to see the bullets fly for real now.
Joel Seutter: It’s going to be fun to hit other colours – we can take our aggression out on them. Even though it’s a non-conference game, you want to win and see what you can do when the bullets are live.
Zach Hart: I am really excited because this is the best set of two-a-days that I’ve seen this team have. We’ve been energetic and flying around. The young guys are starting to step up, so it’s going to be interesting to see who is going to emerge and be the next Jade Etienne. When we played Western, two years ago, he really shot himself forward, and it’s going to be exciting to see who that guy is going to be this year.
Braeden George: It’s been a long off-season, and we’re all ready to play. Everyone is excited and we’re going to come out and try to start the season off right. We want to set this season off on the right tempo.
David Rybinski: I feel great and ready to go. We’re looking to take it to the OUA, because the road to the Vanier goes through the OUA this season.
Brayden Twarynski: I’m excited. This is my first CIS game. I’m looking to get out there, show what I can do, and hopefully make some plays.
Cole Samson: By the looks of things, the guys are feeling pretty good. We need to go and get after it. My leg feels great – Denton and I both had a great camp.
Ben Rush: I’m pretty pumped up to play this team. I really haven’t seen much on them because we only watched 15 or 20 minutes of their film, but it’s going to be exciting to play them.
Craig Woloshyn: I’m absolutely jacked. Five years ago, I remember coming out here and seeing my name on the back of my jersey, and it was one of the best feelings I’ve ever had. Five years later, to be doing it again, and showing a new group of Huskies how it’s going to be, is exciting.
Evan Greff: I’m ready. It’s been a long week of two-a-days, and I’m excited to get out there and finally be able to hit somebody. We trained hard and we have a lot of depth on the OLine.
