Flag Plant: Huskies vs Gryphons, Aug 24, 2012

At every home game, a Huskies ticket holder is selected to welcome the team to the field during the Huskies Team intro. The fan plants a Huskies flag at mid-field and that launches the massive fireworks show into the sky which brings the players on to the field. The season ticket holder symbolically represents all fans as they greet the players.

John Thiel had the honour when the Huskies hosted the Guelph Gryphons last Firday. John, and his wife Shan, are the proud parents of Huskies defensive back Luke Thiel and former Huskie linebacker Peter Thiel who is now playing with the Edmonton Eskimos.  The Thiel’s have been season ticket holders for six years and sit in section five.

“It was great to be a part of the whole game day atmosphere,” said Thiel. “It was amazing to have a chance to get things started for the boys.”
