Keenan MacDougall from the Saskatchewan Huskies was just selected 15th overall in the CFL draft by the Calgary Stampeders.
MacDougall, who was injured last season, had good results at the CFL combine that made many teams interested in him.
Michael Petrie, the Stampeders Assistant General Manager of the Stampeders said, “We were very happy that Keenan was available at number 15 and we are looking forward to seeing him in training camp.”
“I am pretty pumped right now,” said MacDougall a few minutes after the pick was announced. “The phone has been ringing and there are lots of texts coming in. I am just so excited ”
The Stampeders phoned MacDougall just as the pick was being announced and they told him that they want him to continue to do what he has been doing in the past.
“I wasn’t really that nervous,” he added, when asked about how he felt heading into today. “I knew I couldn’t change anything this late, so I just sat down and watched the draft.”
MacDougall was the second Huskie drafted so far today. “Seeing Ben drafted at the Dogs’ Breakfast was pretty special,” he said. “It reminded me of the NFL draft. Now, hopefully, Ben and I will both be in the CFL together.”
With the continued hard work, MacDougall could be in the league for a long time.
