The Huskies had a good workout last night as they prepare for the Canada West semifinal against the Alberta Golden Bears on Saturday at 1:00 at Griffiths Stadium.
This was the second practice preparing for the Bears, so there was less emphasis on teaching and inserting and more emphasis on reps. The offense and the defense had a chance to run a lot of plays against the show team, and both units improved dramatically over their performance on Tuesday. This is typical as the players get used to the new wrinkles.
Laurence Nixon looked better at quarterback after having a flat day on Tuesday. The defense looked really sharp and focused. Both kickers were booming the ball, despite a cross-wind.
The Huskies came out of the game against the Rams relatively injury-free, and all of the players expected to play this weekend were on the practice field.
We understand that there are still some great tickets left, but the phones have been ringing off the hook. The weather is suppose to be perfect for football Saturday afternoon and with a playoff atmosphere, the crowd is expected to be loud and a lot of fun. Visit the Huskies ticket site, call 966-1111 or stop by the PAC to get your tickets.
Finally, Kevin Jesus of Global Sports did a great piece called “1990 Vanier Cup: The Pursuit of Excellence.” If you haven’t watched it, you will want to find six minutes and check it out here.
