Last season, the Huskies introduced Champions Plaza at Griffiths Stadium. There is a flag commemorating each of the Huskies three Vanier Cup Victories: 1990, 1996 and 1998. There is also one flag to recognize all of the Huskies Hardy Cup victories and one each for the Churchill and Uteck Bowl Victories from various seasons. Prior to each home game, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Football Program honours its Alumni.
During the ceremony on October 15 against the Calgary Dinos, over 4500 Huskies fans joined the Alumni, stood on their feet and cheered as the Alumni Flag was raised.
Oct 15, 2010 Honouree
The October 15th, 2010 Alumnus is a cherished 5th Year Huskie who played from 1991-1995, a defensive back he participated in what many call the greatest College football game in Canadian history the 1994 Vanier Cup where our Huskies were defeated by Western Ontario in Overtime 50-40.
He played with a huge motor that never quit on a play and never gave less than his full effort. He is remembered for his tremendous intensity. A player who left it out on the field every chance he had. He embraced the Huskie culture and lived and breathed Huskie football and still does.
In addition to his career on the field this Alumnus has given unselfishly to the program in many ways that personify what Huskie Pride really means. A hardworking member of the Football Foundation and the Huskie Football Scholarship Foundation he still finds time to lead the Huskie Football Alumni Association. That group operates the annual Huskie Football Fall Classic golf tournament raising much needed funding for the team.
His tireless efforts to support the program continue to make him a major player on the team that support the team! The entire Huskie Nation along with the Alumni raised the Alumni flag to recognize a great alumnus and a leader who makes our program better.
