The Huskie defense is going to have its hands full, this Friday night, when they face QB Khaleal Williams, and the Manitoba Bison offense. “Manitoba’s offense is getting a lot better as the weeks go by,” commented Huskies’ defensive coordinator, Ed Carleton, following yesterday’s practice. “They didn’t look real sharp at the start of the season, but they’re starting to put some things together. They have a QB who is in his first year as a starter, and he has played very well the last two games. He’s able to take off – he has a couple of runs of over fifty yards.”
Coach Carleton knows what it will take from the Huskie defense in order to be successful against Manitoba. “We’ve brought a pretty good, physical, effort every week. We have to keep playing physical and get after people. We also have to cut down on the mistakes more and more each game. We did a good job last week, but there’s still work to do with regards to getting our assignments.”
The Huskie defense would love to have encouragement from a stadium full of fans. Kickoff is 7:00 pm Friday, at Griffiths Stadium. You can purchase tickets by phoning 966-1111.
