First Down: Who receives your offensive game ball?
Jon: Jade Etienne. He doesn’t just get my game ball for playing a solid receiving game, (two catches, one TD) but he brought it physically as well. While good performances catching the ball are a more common occurrence, it’s not often you get to see the punishing hits that Etienne laid out on Western defenders. He became a football player on Friday.
Tom: Trent Peterson receives my offensive game ball. 8/11 on pass attempts with three TD’s, in only one quarter of action, is a pretty solid performance. Peterson and Jade Etienne really put on a show in the fourth quarter.

Dallas: My offensive player of the game is wide receiver Jade Etienne. He led all receivers with 81 yards and one touchdown, but his most impressive play was a HUGE hit he put on a Western defender that allowed Mitch Stevens to gain a first down. He’s ready for a full-time roster spot.
Ryan: I agree with all of your choices, so decided to throw out another name because he had a great performance, but was overshadowed: Devin Sapara. Sapara had four carries for 43 yards and a long of 28. He had a nice training camp and a good showing on Friday.
Second Down: Who receives your defensive game ball?
Dallas: The player that stood out to me was second year linebacker Seamus Neary. He plays hard nosed football and brought intensity to every play. He finished with four tackles and a sack on the night – all well earned. He’s also ready for a full-time position.
Tom: I agree with you Dallas. My defensive game ball to Seamus Neary. Two sacks, with one being called off due to a penalty, is impressive given the limited amount of playing time that the starters received.
Ryan: I am picking the D-line. The four starters (Zach Hart, Joel Seutter, Steven Kovach and David Rybinski) shut down the Western run game for a quarter and a half. Western only had one first down and 17 yards in offense in the first quarter, mostly because of these guys.
Jon: Keenan McDougall. He contributed five tackles (one for a loss) as well as an interception in limited playing time.
Who receives your special teams game ball?
Tom: I thought Stephen McDonald was pretty consistent out there tonight, especially on kickoffs.
Jon: I’m on the same page, Tom. Stephen MacDonald looked solid doing punts and kickoffs in his debut, helping the Dogs to win the field position battle more often than not.
Ryan: Jeff Moore. He quietly had a good training camp and that carried over to the game. A nice 45 yard kick-off return helped spark the Huskies.
Dallas: I’m giving my game ball to Jeff Moore too. Moore had some impressive returns on the night and is deserving of the special teams game ball. He’s looking more confident out there and was smart and patient, especially on kickoff returns.
