Huskies Flag Plant, Oct 23, 2009

When the Huskies hosted the UBC Thunderbirds on October 9, they started a new tradition of getting a season ticket holder to plant the Huskies Flag at center field during the Huskies team introductions.

Huskies Head Coach Brian Towriss said that this was a symbolic thank you to all fans who have supported the team. “We have the loudest fans in CanadaWest,” Towriss said. “We can’t thank them enough for the boost they give to our team every time we take the field. Our fans are unbelievable!”

Huskies Season Ticket Holder, John Hyshka, plants the Huskies flag during team intros.

Each week, a season ticket holder is randomly drawn to plant the Huskies flag.

On October 23 against the Alberta Golden Bears, that fan was John Hyshka. Hyshka is a third year season ticket holder who sits in Section 11. He has been going to Huskies games since the 1980s. Thanks John!

“It was a thrilling and exciting experience,” Hyshka said on planting the Huskies flag.   “It really gets your heart pumping, when you see all those fans on their feet and hear how loud it is. I can see why the team gets pumped when they take the field. Let’s make it louder next time!”
