Champions Plaza, October 23, 2009

Prior to each home game, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Football Program honours its alumni at Champions Plaza. There is a flag commemorating each of the Huskies three Vanier Cup Victories: 1990, 1996 and 1998. There is also one flag to recognize all of the Huskies Hardy Cup victories and one each for the Churchill and Uteck Bowl Victories from various seasons.

Before each kick-off, a Huskies Football Alumni will raise the seventh flag, known as the Alumni Flag.

During the ceremony on Friday, October 23 against the Alberta Golden Bears, Huskies fans rose to their feet and cheered in unison as the flag was raised.

Scott McHenry was one of four 5th year players honoured at Champions Plaza.

October 23 Hounorees
The Huskie Football Program has a long and treasured tradition of recognizing our Fifth Year Players. On October 23, we honoured four players who played all five years of their college eligibility with the Huskie Football Program.

During its 97 year history the Huskie Football Program has produced only 148 true Fifth Year players. To welcome the four new players, some of the 5th Year players from past generations lined the field. They gathered to demonstrate their respect for this year’s 5th Year Huskies who they welcomed into this very special group. Many of the past 5th Year Huskies wore their game jerseys which were presented to them by their Team to recognize their special commitment to Huskie Football.

On October 23, we recognized our current 5th year players.
Our Unquestioned Leader on Defense, number 54, Taylor Wallace.
The Heart of our Offensive Line, number 55, Hubert Buydens
