At the Huskies last home game against UBC, a new tradition was introduced. From now on, a season ticket holder will be randomly drawn and will have the privilege of planting the Huskies flag at centre field when the Huskies are introduced.
“We can’t thank the season ticket holders, alumni and fans enough for their support this year.” Huskies Head Coach Brian Towriss said. “The atmosphere that they have created at our games is incredible. We want to have a Huskies fan at centre field on game day as a symbolic thank you to every fan.”
Dallas Carpenter, a Huskies’ season ticket holder, long-time fan and one of the writers for this blog, was the first person drawn. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be on the field during those intros,” Carpenter said. “When the players talk about how special the team introduction is to them, I now fully understand how powerful and motivating it is to see all those fans standing and cheering. Go Dogs!”
