Coaches discuss the scrimmage

The Outsider caught up with Huskies Head Coach Brian Towriss and Defensive Coordinator Ed Carleton after today’s scrimmage.

The big guy went through some of the offensive hilites. Rookie Cam Redl stepped in with the first team and Towriss was happy that he got some reps and some game action. Mike Fuller was another guy that stood out. All three quarterbacks played well and completed some long balls. BT also told the Outsider after the interview that Cory Jones and Braeden George did a lot of good things.  BT finished the interview with a preview of what he will be doing at the East West bowl in London this weekend.

On Defense, Carleton said he was pleased with the effort the group gave. The Huskies are returning almost all of their defense from last year; the veterans looked good, but some rookies will be vying for starting spots.

On the D-Line Carleton likes the depth and singled out rookie Zach Hart and Toby Sroka as having a good scrimmage. The linebackers are returning the same group of veterans and they all played well. Rookie Charlie Power made some plays too. For the DBs, Carleton mentioned that Alex Adams filled in amicably for Jon Krahenbil. He also said that Grant Shaw played well and liked the two Leboldus High School rookies Seamus Neary and Luke Thiel.

First off, thanks for providing all of this information. You have gone beyond duty. On behalf of the fans, I would like to thank you for doing this blog.

I thought the scrimmage went well. I really liked seeing Jeff Hassler run. The depth at running back may not be a problem now. I agree that all of the quarterbacks looked good. Nixon seems to be “on”. Cory Jones also looked good.
